Step through my garden gate

IMG_0217.jpeg

I have always had a love for the garden.  I spent many years growing food for my family and got joy out of watching things grow.  I slowly started adding more and more flowers to my garden each year eventually having a majority of our small 1/2 acre property filled with beds for cut flowers.  Selling my bouquets at a driveway stand, on facebook, and local markets helped me fund my hobby and Garden Gate Blooms was born.  With a stressful 50+ hour a week job as a Project Manager, and being a busy mom of 2, gardening was my escape.  When the winter months came, I longed for ways to help keep my mind clear and my love for flowers as my escape. I started pressing flowers and making artwork with pride with the dried flowers I'd started from seed and grown myself.  Learning the best way to dry each type of flower, use coloring techniques to help revive and keep the blossoms vibrant became a way to help keep my mind quite in the winters and evenings when I couldn't be in the garden.

The more I did with pressed flowers and bouquets, the more I enjoyed it.  I started getting referrals from friends of family members, putting my work in a local boutique, sharing my work at craft shows, and Garden Gate Blooms transformed into a business where I could not only help bring joy to people's lives with fresh flowers I had grown, but help people keep memories alive by preserving flowers from their most important events.
